The world of "Thief"
Chaos rules in the world of Eylea. Note, I am not saying all chaos is bad, but this chaos was exceptionally fierce and few did actually benefit from it, so I am going to call it a bad chaos. This bad chaos was caused four years ago because of some bandits and lawless that murdered the a few of the rulers of the world(originally there were ten rulers, whom each had different titles and ruled over different parts of the world). The gang of Shishidonne stole all the money and treasures of their wealthy victims, thus making all the other rulers afraid of what may happen to them. Most of them ran away with their valuable belongings, split them up and hid them. Hid them very well, as a matter of fact, and used traps and magic to protect them. This sudden lack of money combined with the lifestyle of the civilians and Shishidonne's raids on them, made the people of Eylea incredibly poor. Many saw the need of changing sides to earn enough of a living, and soon made teams and gangs of bandits themselves.
In no more than two years, more then half of Eylea's population were thieves and bandits. As the ones left were mostly poor, the bandits started fighting against each other. These battles tore down a lot of the land, and the solidiers of the remaining kings were too few to actually do anything about it. Some of the bandits starting doing missions like treasure-hunting, stealing and in some cases assassination for those who could pay.
Now, only three rulers are left in the world and only a few mission-thieves are left. Shishidonne dissappeared after the raids four years ago, and not a single person knows were they went.
Kuranai
A mysterious island said to hold the largest treasure in the world. The few who knows about the stories will do anything to get a hold of enough money so that they can get to it(The only ones left that knows were it lays, are the Dual Wyverns, and they demand an enormous amount of gold to take people there). Kuranai is of great importance to the plot.
Shishidonne
The shishidonnes are members of the largest band of rouges and bandits ever created. Their inner circle consists of 13 people, but the troops they used to control consisted of more than 500 lawless. The goal behind their assaults was to get enough money to go to the Kuranai island, and then become the rulers of the world with the treasure's help. Seemingly, something went wrong.
The summoned creatures
These beings are created by imagination and faith and given life by the same things. Ironically, many people are searching for the answer to what these creatures realy were, but if they found out the facts, they would never be able to summon them because of their nonexcistence. Druids are the only ones able to control them, but everyone mastering the language the summon scrolls are written on or the art of making runes is able to call them into the real world. Without any control of them what-so-ever, though. the most important and/or well-known of these living fantasies are the water creature Zealuu, the forest guardian Trent, the wanderer of darkness Kenthiment and the nightmind Armobion.
The heroes
Our main hero is Frantz, a traveling 19 year-old thief whom gets thrown out of(quite literally) the village he spent a night in, accused of stealing their most valuable item. The boy gets incredibly annoyed by this and promises that he will prove his innocence. He is one honorable thief, after all. It doesn't get to him why they would think he stole the item(Frantz has not got the slightest idea what this thing actually is, as revealed later in the game). Shortly after his depart, he helps a female Ruler Defender(knights of the rulers) to defeat a couple of bandits she encountered(and that Frantz didn't get of too well with). This girl inspires him to make a team of so-called Mission Thieves, as a "thank you"-gift. Through collecting thieves of various sorts, they will soon be getting orders from the ones with some money left, and surely Frantz will soon get a hold of the village's item. That is not the case. In between the missions and collecting of Party Members, our heroes get involved with both many Bandit gangs and the troops of the remaining rulers and pretty much ends up fighting the whole world. His Steal-speciality is offensive weapons.
Other party members(being developed) are:
- A female druid named Dusaya-Rana whom gets involved with Frantz when she sets out on a journey to rescue the parents of a little girl from slave traders. "Dark" personality, she originally left her city for vengeance over the man whom told the bandits he had control over to raid her city four years ago(they killed her friend Mogran in the process). Mogran is actually the sole reason she sets out on the adventure, as the little girl reminds her of him. She was followed everywhere by a particularly stupid and annoying mercenary, who's hobbies circled around killing innocent sticks and birds that looked suspicious. Dusaya-Rana is able to steal both healing and offensive spell scrolls, as well as mighty, unlimited-use Summon Scrolls.
- Ralph, a magician student. In an accident at the house of his teacher, his body was exposed to mystical potions that changed him into a horryfying beast. Frantz rescues him from a circus he was captured by. He needs the "Magic Control Armlets" to return to his human form, and Frantz gets this from a wizard(after the magician that used to be Ralph's teacher did not only refuse to help them, but also tried to kill his creation). In battles, Ralph can change his form by equipping or taking of the armlets). I have been developing his monster form, and it looks quite like a manga version of Minotaurus. Ralph grows to like his other self on the journeys because of it's strenght, wich was his goal when he decided to become a wizard. He is able to steal spell scrolls and mix them to make new and more powerful spells.
- Inico is the first party member. As she is a Ruler Defender, she finds herself in an uncomfortable situation when Copycat and his gang attacks the caravan she is supposed to be guarding. She is helped out by Frantz whom is just "a too nice guy to watch a caravan being robbed by bandits without doing a thing about it", or at least that's what he says. In reality, he also saw the chance to make a good first impression to the girl(yeah, he likes her). Inico joins Frantz after Copycat runs away, afraid of being alone(Copycat killed the men in the caravan, as were his mission). Inico is very dependent, and has always been protected by her brother and her friends in the capital city of the North Hills, Umelos. She was raised to become a treasure hunter, as that would surely secure a rich and safe future for her in the unexplored eastern lands, the #1 place to find treasures because of the rough enviorments and labyrint-like caves and ruins. In a brave attempt to learn how to deal with the world on herself, she flees the city with the help of her friend Quill. Her Steal-specialities are defensive items and healing items.
- Once upon a time, there was a land that was surrounded by mountains. The country was split in two. One side belonged to the wherewolfes, the other belonged to the vampires. These creatures had no soul, and they both feeded on blood. Their blood was unpure, and they had no happyness what-so-ever. The only thing on their mind was killing and owning. The land was in the state of war. The wherewolfes wanted the vampires side, and the other way around. In the little piece of land that separeted the two sides, there was a little village. In this village there was a couple, a beautiful woman and a handsome man. This couple had just had a child. The boy was called Gray. One day, the day that Gray had become 1 year old, the wherewolves and the vampires had come to a decision. They had come to a peaceful decision, they shared all. But before there was peace, the master of the vampire and the master of the wherewolfes had to kill a baby from the little village in the middle, together. This was traditional. They picked Gray. If you get bitten by a wherewolf, you would turn in to a wherewolf every fullmoon. And if you get bitten by a vampire, you become a vampire. When you become one of these things, you lose your soul. No one knows what happens if you get bit by both. Then the ceremony started, but when both of them had bitten the first time, both in the face, Gray's father surrendered and asked the wherewolf and the vampire to kill him instead of his son. They had no problem with that, and Leon watched his poor father die. Usually, your soul is destroyed when you are bitten. Leons soul did not. It came out of the wounds of Gray, like blue colored gas, and fled off towards the woods.
Gray reached the age of 4. He had become a soulless creature, but he had one thing that sperated him from both vampires and wherewolves. He could turn into a bat or a wolf whenever he wanted to, and still remember who he was and what was going on. He slept all day, and was awake all night. His mother was very worried. One night, he sneaked out of the house and off to the woods. There he got lost, but suddenly he saw something shining behind the trees. He got scared but went closer to see what was going on. All of a sudden, the shining thing flied into his mouth! This was his soul. If a soulless person gets his soul back, his bood gets pure, purer then the purest diamond. Then, he felt asleep… The only way for a vampire or a wherewolf to unpure the blood, is to kill a person, by biting his neck. If a wherewolf or a vampire tries to drink pure blood, like Gray's, it will turn into dust.
Gray ot his soul back, and lives a normal life. He gets normal friends, have normal needs, but three things is not normal: His powers, his looks, and he is allergic to drinking blood. He look handsome, but a bit furry, and have sharp theet. His friends thinks his powers are cool, Gray too. He becomes a cheerful and happy person, but mystic and full of secrets. One day, when he becomes 20 years old, he would like too explore other places than only the land that he lives in. So, he packs a huge backpack, turns into a bat, an flyes away, over the mountains, with his mother left behind, crying in the village.(Krisomyas Redmist note:This story is one of the newest, and has yet not been edited much. It will. He hasn't even got a steal-speciality yet.)
- Idoni leads the resistance movement named "Shadows of Ferker" against King Horell III on the continent of Fedra. Although short and not strong at alle, he is one of the most versatile and deadliest of the protoganist. At least he would be if it weren't for the fact that he is nearly blind without his glasses, and even more because he hates using them. The main reason he isn't thrown out of the resistance yet is that he has been able to kill half of the king's advisors
-not knowing that Idoni was really aiming for Horell. He lost his left arm in one of those assaults on the ruler, but refuses to talk about it. His steal-ability is Steal: Deadly, and involves both a lot of staus-affecting items and powerful area attack-weapons like bombs. The glove he wears has many uses and gadgets, most of them used to make up for the lack of a second arm. It is able to shoot different kinds of bullets and spikes/nails, can launch a rope with a hook on it and a long knife hu uses can be attached to it and either fenced with or shot. The shoes he wear makes for incredible movement: they pretty much allows him to slide along the floor like he was skating on ice, making him very hard to hit.

Other main characters
- Copycat is one of the team's main rivals, and you meet him shortly after the beginning. In fact, he is the game's very first boss. Giving a new meaning to the word "Idiocy", this amnesiac thief-for-rent will do anything to get a hold on anything valuable(or even slightly shiny). His signature move is his "Needle Spread", and his "Shaddap!" makes his enemies shiver(not of the reason he want them to). This madman robs large citys in daylight, and is even able to get away with it thanks to his "Copy"-skills that allows him to learn and counterattack almost every attack that is used against him. Copycat is not exceptionally evil, but doesn't care much for others. He often fights with a few partners to help him out(read: to have someone to take hits for him). His hyperactivity is the most scary part of him; his appearance as a masked maniac doesn't really do him any favors.
- Elkantin is an intelligent man. He is a tactician, but his tactics are constantly ignored as they pretty much all circles around himself and his "superior offensive power". He is what you'd like to call evil, but he sees himself as "a knight fighting for the power of love". Obviously, this guy is a psycho. Needless to say, Elkantin is not well liked. He leads the army of Ruler Defenders in the land of islands(currently unnamed).
- Darkwing is one of the most famous and feared bandits in Eylea. His headquarter is well hidden and no one has managed to locate it. Darkwing's gang is known as "the Moon Blades" because of their weapons. The criminal hides his face and origins, having a past story no one would like to share with others.
- Horell III is living proof that monarcy and democrazy are widely different things. The most amazing thing about the revolts against him is that they didn't come sooner. Not only is the old idiot a jackass of unbeliveable dimensions, running his kingdom as he feels like and ignoring the public's needs, he's also.. well, he's annoying to even CopyCat. You go figure.
- Jello is a highly persistent being, born thanks to Copycat's doing a long time ago. How it actually manages to live is a mystery to others, it has few inner organs except for a brain nor much else a body needs. It is known among the druids in the southern country, although hidden from ordinary people, that Jello is in fact a summon that's killed while in it's shortly lasting real form it takes while summoned, and as it was now tied to the real world forever, it formed a body of jelly and enjoys life outside of the humans' fantasies and the spirit world. Too bad it's own enjoyment mostly leads to other's suffering.
Gameplay mechanics
- Customed graphics.
- The elements being used are still being discussed, but last word is, it's going to be Fire, Air, Earth, Mind and Water.
- A humorous game, inspired by all the funny mangas and games out there.
- Mostly animal-like and theif/bandit-"monsters". Many, many boss battles^^
- The battle system is currently under development, but so far it consists of:
Skills. In this command, you choose "Steal:"-skills(i.e. "Steal: Defensive" for Inico and "Steal: Offensive" for Frantz). New "Steal:"-commands are learned throughout the game, i.e. you will have to buy potions and antidotes for healing in the beginning, but you won't have to anymore when you learn the "Steal: Antidote" or "Steal: Healing"-skills. This option also cantains Item-attacks you master(read on for explanation).
Items. Here, the items you steal in battle or buy in towns appear. Every item can only be used a certain number of times(as many times as you've stolen one, number will be displayed), but almost every offensive item and every spell scroll can be "mastered", meaning that they will be added to your "Skills"-list after being used a certain number of times). Not every item can be mastered, though(think potions), and some can only be mastered(and used) by certain characters. For instance, only Leon has the strength to master (or again, use) the "Throwing Axe"-item, but some basic items are possible to master for everyone("Throwing Knife" and "Fire dust" among them).
The remaining two options, Attack and Escape are pretty self-explanary, but we're thinking about having the opportunity to decide what part of the enemy body the normal attack will strike, adding some strategic thinking to the basic option(Yes, all the characters can equip weapons, although they're not half as strong as most items the Attack-option will be nice to have against weakened enemies and weak monsters you run into). Maybe a "Combo"-option will be added to the four others, but we'll see.
- Troughout the story, flashbacks will occur as stories are being told by the other part members. This happens when nothing particularly else does(at an inn, on a boat), and let you experience the backstory from the other party members point of view through actual gameplay(yeah, including actual battles and puzzles, not just some short dialogue). It switches back to the present time when the story(or huge parts of it) is finished. As many of the characters backstories are very dramatic, exciting and well developed, this will be a good part of the game. Believe me^^
One of the very first drawings of the cast I did. The guy in the middle is Frantz, and the girl to his right is the female Ruler Defender, Inico. Ralph is to the right. The left girl, however, didn't make it through the character audition. I just keep her here bacuase I like her.
An early drawing of some of the game's bad guys(aka bandits). The lower haven't changed much, but the other two have been redesigned and look incredibly much better now.

Dual Wyvern. In need of legs, but still a dual wyvern. Huge image, thereby the link.
This is copycat(obviously).
The pirate Idela. Could use a shirt, I guess. Or to actually wear the one she has got properly. Sexy or stylish, that's the question. But why not both.
Anyway, Idela is still being developed.
The bandit Will.
The prettyboy hero Kascala. He tries to hinder Frantz' team because... Well, he's a good guy. The annoying hero stereotype. Had to include him somehow, and he's here as an opponent(after all, you are lawless).
A currently unnamed and asocial magefencer. That's like a fencer whom uses magic, by the way. A twist on the mageknight-thing.
A druid from the southern lands and three of the creatures a druid can summon: Leviathan, trent and Tropical Trent. Dusaya-Rana is not one of these, she's from the northern lands. The difference is only subtle, but while the northern druids uses staffs, the southern ones use their minds and enchance it with runes.
A sketch of a male druid from the southern lands.
A body animated with mind force.
Four bandits. The upper right one is inspired by the huge amount of "Thieves or magicians with masks that are grinning like maniacs"-stereotype. With the difference from other stereotypes that this one still is cool and not overused. Yet. The guy is important to the story, too.
Sorcerer named Kromyas. Fights with the power of the dead and their souls as well as other kinds of black magic. Was a student under the same magician as Ralph.
